Outpainting – expand borders w/ AI

Have you ever wanted to expand the content of your images, go beyond the boundaries, and let your creativity run wild? That's exactly what Outpainting is all about! With ArtSmart's cutting-edge AI algorithms, you can effortlessly extend your images and unlock a whole new world of possibilities.

Outpainting is the opposite of inpainting, where inpainting focuses on filling in missing or removed parts of an image. With outpainting, you can expand the scene, background, or any other area of an image to create a larger canvas or add more visual elements.

🎉 Welcome to the world of limitless creativity with this powerful tool at your fingertips. Remember, the possibilities with outpainting are limited only by your imagination. Whether you're a storyteller, designer, marketer, artist, or simply someone who loves to create visually stunning content, it can be a valuable tool to elevate your work and make it truly remarkable

How Outpainting Works

  1. Initial Image
Begin the outpainting process by selecting an initial image that you want to extend. You have the flexibility to either upload your own image or generate a new one using ArtSmart's image generation capabilities.
  2. Define Extension Area
Specify the specific area or direction in which you want to extend the image. Whether it's the background, the sides, or any other part of the image, you have the freedom to unleash your creativity and define the boundaries for the extension.
  3. Provide Desired Prompts
One of the crucial steps in achieving high-quality outpainting results is providing the desired prompts. By inputting the right prompts that align with your creative vision, you can enhance the output and guide the AI algorithm to generate the desired extensions effectively.
  4. Outpainting Algorithm
ArtSmart leverages its advanced AI algorithms to analyze the input image and generate extensions that seamlessly blend with the original content. These algorithms ensure coherence, visual appeal, and smooth integration of the extended elements, maintaining the artistic style and essence of the initial image.

Using Outpainting: Unleash Your Creativity with Extended Images

Once you're in the Outpainting interface, you can start creating stunning extended images. Take a look at this example of an image generated using Outpainting:

Now, let's dive into how you can create your own extended images using Outpainting:

1. Start by describing the image you would like to create. In this example, we want to generate an initial image of "photo of a river, blue sky, very detailed, 4k"

2. Notice the model we used here: we have used the "Hyper Realistic" mode in this example. However, you have the option to change it according to your preference. Simply click on the model menu to select the desired mode.

3. If you prefer to use your own image instead of generating a new one, you can utilize the upload tools available on the left side.

4. For example, choose 'My Images.' 'My Images' are the generated images from the playground you have created

5. Let's extend the right space of the image. Ensure that your frame editor overlaps with the image by approximately 60-40% to obtain good results when training images. In this case, we'll use "Photo of a river, blue sky, very detailed" as the prompt to extend the river area of the image.

6. Please do not slide the frame editor too wide or like the image below, as ArtSmart requires sample images to be trained in order to generate images that align with the desired prompts.

7. Click the "Apply" button and wait for the generation process to complete.

8. Review the result. If you feel that the result is not what you desired, you can regenerate it by clicking on the icon and regenerate again until you find the best image for that specific extension.

9. Click the trash icon button and wait for the generation process to complete, If you feel that the result is not what you desired,

Now, let's extend the left area. The steps are similar, and you already know how to do it, right?

10. If you find certain parts of the image unsatisfactory, you can make use of the inpainting feature to replace them. Here is an example of how to use it:

  • Position the frame over the area you wish to inpaint and click on the brush icon located on the left side.
  • You will now enter inpainting mode, indicated by the "Inpainting" tag displayed at the top of the frame

  • Use the brush tool to select and replace the element or object you want to modify, and provide the desired prompts.

  • Click on "Apply" to proceed with the inpainting process

11. Once you are finished and satisfied with the result, you can save the final image by downloading it.

ℹ️ Currently, downloading is the only available option to save the final image. We understand the importance of having the ability to store it within your profile, similar to other images from the playground. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this limitation. Rest assured, we are actively working on implementing a seamless integration between outpainting and the profile page, as well as the explorer. Thanks for your patient
